Companions' origins are highly disputed because only few has discernible origins, and even fewer willing to reveal it to strangers. However, accounts like Empty Tome stated most of Companions' origins, ranging from Noneiffica, Highvale, Helena, to the recently formed Book Realm.
Characteristics
Most Companions could be described as loyal to their comrades, although there's not few who have their own agendas. Since Companions come from various backgrounds, it's rather not possible to generalize their characteristics, especially in particular events.
