“Riftwalker” is a common term for any sentient, nomadic beings happen to be found in The Rift and may come from any origins or realms. Most of Rifwalkers traverse across such vast and chaotic realm between the planes to reach their destination; they usually keep on moving, hoping the malevolent ether of The Rift doesn't catch them on their journey.
“Riftwalker” is also a term for anyone happen to exist in The Rift and doesn't tied to any other groups like Librarians or Makers.
Riftwalkers doesn't have any known branches, however in the event of Runemilenia's Imperial Simulacrum, a group of Riftwalkers formed a small group which later be known as Survivors and set a headquarter in Runemilenia's Sanctuary.
Some members of Merchant's Guild are also known as Riftwalkers, and have an access to the Way's special routes called Serpent's Tunnel.
The term 'Riftwalker' was coined by unknown and has already existed along with The Rift's existence for a while. The history of such term could be tracked down to the early era of Great Library.
The term's origin has been around for aeons, proven by the Librarian's account regarding “the first group of foreigners who found the right Way to the Great Library” dated in its early age (roughly 30000 years before the the Runemilenian Kingdom of Eremidia established). However, such term wasn't popularized until the Mad Queen Incident when the invading Highvaleans were called “Riftwalkers” by the defending Librarians, making the term to be shunned by Great Archivists for several years–they still granted the outsiders access to Great Library despite of the conflict's outcomes.
Nowadays, the term 'Riftwalker' has returned to its original meaning, although in its development, such term covers a large group that is not associated to any other groups in The Rift
