Gneiss is an extra character introduced alongside with Terra in the Project AED. He is an artificial life form created by Pars Mythos in order to try to understand how to create a life. He then forcibly merged together with Terra to create an ultimate living being.

As an artificial living being, he was unable to reason or feel emotion. What he processed on his thought is whatever that comes to him as an instruction. Ultimately created a controlled golem. However, after merged together with Terra, it was his first time to feel human emotion. Even though he is still unable to express himself at most of the time, he is at least able to relate how the human feels.
Gneiss original body is more durable than most of living being. Aside from the fact that it made of hard rock, it can also repair itself whenever it gets damaged. However, the self-repair can only last up until his life force becomes weak enough to do the repair. In another word, if someone wants to beat him, they have to crush him over and over again. And crushing his original body is not an easy task.
Gneiss is actually more vulnerable after being merged with a human body. It is because a human body is a more fragile body than the body he used to have. However, he gained the ability to reason, feel, and think that he never had in his previous body. He is still able to conjure and control his old vessel to fight with him as a puppet.
One important ability to have with having a human body under his control is the ability to talk. Being able to talk opens his world a lot and get to know about the world.
