Riftverse
It's basically the outer space, but with the touch of fantasy
TheoAllen, tried to explain the rift, //scientifically//
//Note: Not to be confused with The Rift. This page explains the rift in a bigger picture and larger concept.//
Riftverse is a plane of collection of many different realms that are separated by the void gap that is called "The Rift". These realms have their own name and its own rules. Each realm may (or may not) occupy one of the sectors/regions. Riftverse has no actual deity that rules the entire universe. However, the local realm or region may have one.

Riftverse in its core consists of only two components. The source of energy that is often named as "Ether" and the Matter. Ether does not have a body but the existence drives something toward the change. In another hand, the matter is static. They will not change itself on its own. When ether and matter meet, something happens. The shape of the matter may change. Some believe that the source of life is the Ether while the vessel is the Matter.
There're other components that made the Riftverse in which they're basically just a derivation of the main two components. These components are
- The Rift
- Ether Core
- Devourer
- Serpent's Tunnel
Further explanation below
The Rift
It is believed that Riftverse has more than 95% of its component as The Rift, the gap between many realms. However, the appearance of the rift does not always be dark and gloomy. It usually imitates a random environment whether if it's a harsh environment or subtle one. This change is influenced by the instability of ether that flows within the rift space itself. Many who have fallen into the rift may not actually aware if they're inside the rift until they began to see some irregularity of their surrounding like the sudden shift of environment.
Although, occasionally the appearance of the rift may appear friendly (such as when the rift decides to imitate a peaceful environment), the rift itself is inhabitable. The reason why it's inhabitable is because every matter within the rift is not permanent. Longer exposure to the rift may also harmful to the living being as their physical form may be altered.
The Void
The Void is a place within the rift space that contains nothing. There is almost zero matter and ether within the void space. The void space is harmful that any living being thrown into the void may dissolve into pieces to fill the space. The only way to travel within the void and safe from its hazards is to use Pocket Realm or travel through Serpent's Tunnel.
The Great Filter
The Great Filter is both periodical and unpredictable phenomenon within The Rift that makes life or civilization impossible to establish. The Great Filter causes a massive disturbance on the fabric of space causing distortion and turning most of the matters into something else. The phenomenon is caused by the Ether Storm that flows within the rift space itself, effectively affecting anything that goes through within the storm. There is no known way to endure the storm except to hide within the Pocket Realm. Direct exposure to the filter may greatly reduce any living being life span. In a worst-case scenario, they may even turn into The Lurker.
The Lurkers
The Lurkers are sentient hostiles that spread around the rift. They can not be slain, only delayed. The origin of Lurker is unknown. But most of them came from corrupted living being that had been thrown into the rift and exposed for a long period of time. Some of them were manifested from chaotic ether storm merged with matter that is scattered around the rift, creating an abomination.
For example, in domain:Noneiffica sector, the majority of the lurkers were the corruption of most of living being after the Mad Queen Invasion.
Manifested Being
While the rift may manifest an environment resembles an actual nature, the rift may also create a temporary living being that is named as Manifested Being. The manifested beings are people or other sentients being who seems to live normally within The Rift. The manifested being often appeared as a normal human being (or another form). Capable of taking a reason, communicating, and even has emotion. However, even if they're sentient and also sometimes conscious about their condition, they never conscious about the rift and the state of it. Like any other things within the rift, the manifested beings are also temporary.
The manifested being appearance is often influenced by the local realm, sector, or any realm that is close to the location. Thus, this may be a good indicator that there's a realm nearby.
Ether Core
Ether core is a compressed Ether that often takes form into a visible shining sphere. When the Ether is compressed into a single point of the space, it stabilizes the fabric space around it, making it temporarily immune to the rift hazards that change the shape of the matter. When the density of the ether core becomes even more massive, the fabric of space and the matter that is surrounding vanishes from the rift and went to occupy another dimension and become a realm/universe on its own, completely away from the rift hazards, thus making it a habitable realm.
Another form of Ether core can be found as a soul of any living being. Which is the reason the living being could withstand the rift hazard for the time being and stay on its original form until they ran out of their own core and begin to collapse,
Massive Realms
Massive Realm is a realm that has a massively compressed ether core. It is so massive that it becomes its own universe with its own rules. Often the massive ether core in this realm resembled as "The Sun". However, it can be anything depends on what rules has established within the realm itself.
In order to gain access to the massive realm, one must stand in the correct position within the rift space and open the portal of the fourth dimension to make a jump into the massive realm. The more massive the realm is, the more power it needs to be to access the realm.

Small Realms
The small realm is a collection of compressed ether core that is not dense enough to jump into a different dimension to occupy their own space. Their existence is visible by the naked eye within the rift space. The fabric space and matter are way more stable when the ether core is affecting its surrounding within the rift space. However, because of its small size, the age of the core is not long enough to sustain the long period of exposure to the rift and may vanish within a short time in the future.
Pocket Realms
The pocket realm is a slightly bigger version of the small realm that is dense enough to occupy its own space but not big enough to develop its own universe. Pocket Realm is often made by sentient being as a "solution" to travel and survive within the rift space. Examples of the pocket realms are places:The Great Library and places:The Sanctuary.
The pocket realm can be made by amassing enough Ether Core from small realms. Although the method may be risky as one can get exposed to the rift longer than they could even make their own pocket realm. The safest method is to detach itself from their parent realm, transporting a portion of its space to occupy a different dimension.
[]
Due to the small size of the pocket realm, the resource to open the portal back and fort to the rift space, it is not as expensive as to open the portal into the massive realms. Thus it is an ideal survival place. However, like any other realm, the pocket realm has its cost to maintain stability. Over time, the core of the pocket realm may run out of its fuel and began to collapse and merged with the rift. Further explanation in the realm age section.
Realm Life Cycle
Every Ether Core has its own life span. That means the realms has its age. The age is determined by how dense is the core. The more dense the core is the longer the life span. The realm that has a long life span and has a dense core will completely away from the rift influence. As the realm ages, it draws closer to the rift space. And the realm will experience an unusual phenomenon like the sudden appearance of a floating island, the rise of monster, and many more.

Realm's Movement
Every realm is not staying in its own place, they are moving within the space. The movement itself is usually driven by the flow of the Ether that flows within the rift space. Thus, sometimes it is predictable but sometimes it is not. One that travels within the rift space is advised to have the tracking device such as Thyralabe. However, every realm tends to stay within its sector. Making it easier to narrow down its position. Under a very rare circumstance, they might jump into another sector.

The self-sustain realms like pocket realms may have the advantage to make their own movement through the rift space. This method allows them to travel through the most hazardous place within the rift space like the void, or simply used as transportation.
The Way
Main Article: The Way
The way (or "The Lane") is a walkable path between realms center points. As two or more realms draw closer to each other, both enter its influence area and created a path between the center point of both. It does not matter whether the realm is a massive one, a pocket realm, or a small one. The construction of the path may be a good indicator of the existence of the nearby realm for those who are experienced in exploring the rift. Since it serves as a "shadow" of the realm. When the two realm is away from each other, the walkable path is torn apart and no longer exist.

[]
In a bigger picture, The Lane may appear as a straight path, connecting two realms. However, in practice, the path may appear rough, inconsistent, unstable, and has ever-changing appearance due to the nature of the rift itself.
Realm Collision
There is a possibility that two realms may collide with each other. Although the chance is very slim because two realms may occupy a different dimension so that they will never collide without a special case. When they do, there're two types of collision. A partial collision and full merge:
[]
Partial Collision
Partial collision is more common than full merge. A small part of a realm is colliding with another realm. The part that is colliding will either get transferred into another realm or copied. The common result of this incident is usually an introduction of a new race, a new place, or anything new to the world.
Full Merge
Full merge type of collision is when two or more realms merged into a single even bigger realm. Two laws from the different worlds merged together to create a new law. Usually, this type of collision introduces a massive scale of change such as the multi-layer world that divides different races. e.g, divines live in the divine realm, mortals lives in the mortal realm, thus create a high fantasy world. A merged realm usually has a longer life span so that they could even be considered living forever and stay away from the rift influence.
At some point, because the realm is getting bigger, it may even start to devour its surrounding to sustain its life. When it gets out of hand, the realm may even start to become the devourer itself.
Devourer
There is no known record of what exactly the devourer is. Some speculate that it is the manifestation of the destruction. Some also thought it is a manifestation of a giant lurker. Some thought that it is a manifestation of the great filter that is constantly sweeping the rift space. And some other thought that it is the void itself. Regardless, the existence of the devourer bend the fabric space-time within the rift space to devour anything that enters the event horizon. The devourer can also prematurely end or destroy any massive realm that goes near their border.
[]
Majority of the massive realms are safe from the devourer existence since they usually occupy a far-away dimension away from the influence. Some realms that are close enough may experience irregularities such as the rise of monsters or anything when it collides with the event horizon of the devourer. A realm that completely enters the event horizon may be completely destroyed. A smaller realm like pocket realm is guaranteed to be destroyed when it's entering the boundary.
